According to the Union Health Ministry, there are more than 4 lakh 40 thousand total cases of corona positive in the country. However, it has more number of recovered patients than active cases. Scientists from all over the world have not been able to make medicines of this deadly virus till now. Meanwhile, Baba Ramdev today launched ‘Coronil’, a drug designed to treat the corona virus. Baba Ramdev has claimed that Ayurvedic medicine is effective in eradicating this virus.
On 23rd June 2002, Patanjali announced the cure to the Corona virus through a kit which consists of tablets named Coronil and Swasari Vati, and an oil namely Anu oil. Ramdev claims that trials were conducted in various cities like Delhi and Ahemdabad, in which 280 patients were involved and 100 of them recovered. It’s a little tough to believe given the actual aim of Ayurveda. The validity of Patanjali’s medicine has not been approved by any medical body yet. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently stated that the trials for various medicines for COVID-19 are ongoing but there is still no proof for cure of the disease.
According to Balakrishna, ‘Divine Coronil Tablet’ has added medicinal herbs like Ashwagandha, Giloy, Molecule Oil, Shvasari Ras and Tulsi. According to him, 100 percent results have been seen in patients infected with corona who have undergone clinical trials regarding this drug.
Ministry of AYUSH has ordered Patanjali to stop advertisements for the treatment of COVID-19 until it is fully examined. The Ministry also stated that advertisements of Patanjali alleged drugs are regulated under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act,1954. Even last year Patanjali was fined 11 lakhs INR by a local court in Haridwar for “misbranding and misleading advertisements”.
