Bhumi Pednekar, in her role as an investigative journalist, is on a mission to uncover the truth in the upcoming Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment crime thriller, Bhakshak. “There’s no harm in seeking the truth,” she asserts, dedicating herself to probe into the mistreatment of young girls at a shelter.
The trailer, spanning two minutes and thirty-eight seconds, was released by Shah Rukh Khan on Wednesday. It presents Bhumi as Vaishali Singh, a journalist whose unyielding quest for truth, despite familial opposition, lands her in hot water. Her investigation into the abuse at a local shelter in Munawwarpur, Uttar Pradesh, stirs up a storm. Aditya Srivastava, known for his role in C.I.D., portrays the corrupt shelter owner.
Vaishali, with the assistance of her ally, Mr. Bhaskar, champions the rights of the shelter’s girls. Despite her colleagues’ attempts to dissuade her, fearing the wrath of powerful individuals, she remains steadfast. Her dedication begins to affect her personal life, as her husband Arvind (played by Surya Sharma) notes her personal involvement in the case.
The trailer concludes with a powerful question from Vaishali to the viewers, “Do you still see yourself as a human, or have you become a predator (bhakshak)?”
Bhumi also shared the trailer on her Instagram, captioning it, “Human or Predator? The time to choose has arrived!! #Bhakshak, a film inspired by true events, premieres on February 9th, exclusively on Netflix.”
The crime thriller, based on real events, is set to release on Netflix on February 9th, as announced by the production house on Tuesday along with the film’s poster.
Directed by Pulkit, Bhakshak is Red Chillies Entertainment’s inaugural digital production following the 2022 film Darlings, which starred Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Verma. The crime thriller also includes performances by Sanjay Mishra and Sai Tamhankar in pivotal roles.
